Overview

Beanbags, food trucks and sharing a movie with other relaxed Aucklanders. It simply wouldn't be summer without a trip to Silo Cinema and this Friday the waterfront community space is presenting Lion.

Based on a true story, Lion follows the unforgettable journey of a young Indian boy that finds himself miles from home and family after falling asleep on a train. Lost and afraid, he fends for himself until a strange chance finds sees him adopted by an Australian family. 25 years later he returns to India, determined to rediscover his roots.

Silo Cinema is open from 4.30pm, with Lion playing from 9pm. Make sure you head down early to enjoy one (or more) of the 12 food trucks. Grab a sweet treat from Crêpes A Go Go, a Chinese-style bao from Judge Bao, ice-cream from Lalele Organic, a fragrant curry from Thai Kitchen and more. It's the perfect event to catch up with friends and enjoy a great movie.
