Overview

The Great South Pacific Tuning Fork presents Southern Fork Americana Festival for another year. Now in its fifth year running, the 2018 festival will see Willie Watson, Steve Gunn, Margo Price, Reb Fountain and The Eastern perform — along with supporting acts such as Holly Arrowsmith and Emily Fairlight.

Willie Watson is singer-songwriter, guitarist, banjo player and founding member of Old Crow Medicine Show. In his just under two decade career Watson has performed at festivals such as SXSW in Austin and  Stagecoach in California. The Guardian described Watson's voice as one "that's young but weathered, strong but eerie, and comes backed by intricate banjo and guitar picking."

Critically acclaimed New York-based guitarist and songwriter Steve Gunn's music was described by the Washington Post as "so intimate and so mysteriously distant all at once". Also on the lineup is folk traditionalist Willie Watson, country singer Courtney Marie Andrews, Tui winner Reb Fountain, psychedelic-folk troubadour Arthur Ahbez, Christchurch string band The Eastern, Christchurch treasure Holly Arrowsmith, introspective folk songwriter Emily Fairlight and folk wordsmith Tom Cunliffe.
