Overview

Now in its 5th year, the Southside Arts Festival will feature more than 40 events with a diverse mix of fashion, dance, music, theatre and much more.

The month-long festival provides an important platform for the expression of the vibrant arts, talent and creativity in South Auckland. The signature events include Cult Couture, Southside Gig and The Mixer 3 Concert and will be centred around poetry, comedy, theatre and other events taking place within the festival.

Comedy event highlights include Laugh Out Loud Papakura, hosted by Billy T award-winning comedian Mike Loder. Comedians Darren Jardine, Robert Callaghan, Chris Brain and Irene Pink will also have you in stitches during their run at the festival.

Auckland Theatre Company will revive the landmark Samoan New Zealand play, A Frigate Bird Sings. Funny and moving A Frigate Bird Sings is a call for tolerance of all cultures. If theatre ain’t your thing, check out Auckland-based artist Yona Lee as she takes over the Te Tuhi Drawing Wall with a sprawling stainless steel installation. Or, if you're looking for a special memento to take home from the festival, try the 123 Exhibition, which will offer small, affordable artworks by New Zealand artists.

This festival is jam-packed with a whole bunch of diverse activities, check out the full programme here
