Overview

sparkIf the amount of jandals strolling the streets has got you down, and you’re in need of a little fashion refresher before summer winds up and people finally start wearing their shirts again, Spark Lab has got you covered. If you’re unfamiliar with the initiative, Spark Lab is a space to do, think, inspire and experience. Their last project was Music Month in 2014 where musical talent including Fat Freddy’s Drop, and other leaders in the industry including record label management, all got together under one roof to mentor and chat to upcoming artists.

This February Spark Lab is dedicating its floors to fashion. Attendees can prepare to learn from the best in the local industry, participate in creative workshops, and network with the big fashion names in New Zealand. Amongst the fashion-filled program is a ‘how to’ workshop aimed at fashion newcomers thanks to Cleo and Tigerlily. Catch one of the most interesting history lessons you will ever receive as sneaker fiend and veteran of all things Nike, DJ Sir Vere, talks through the history of Nike’s Air Jordans, which have been in fashion since their inception in 1984. Get involved in the rare opportunity to meet big names from I Love Ugly, Valentin and Barnaby, who have just wrapped up a successful 2014 which saw them opening their first US flagship in West Hollywood, LA. And all the way from New York come style aficionados Street Etiquette (Joshua Kissi and Travis Gumbs) for a chat about all things aesthetic. If you don’t follow them already, you should.

Basically, if you’re wanting to get your foot in the fashion door, you should head along. The opportunity to learn from, interact and network with such successful industry experts doesn’t come along all that often. Also it is free.
