Overview

These days most major cities have food trucks on city corners to satisfy the hunger of everyone in surrounding offices. To date, Auckland's food truck festivals have been either at night or at the weekend, but the good people at the Auckland Food Truck Collective are changing that in a collaboration that will bring great street food to the people of Britomart and the surrounding Auckland CBD. Street Kai on Takutai will take place for one day only on Thursday, 4 October.

As the name suggests the trucks will be situated in Takutai Square, and just in time to pick up something delicious for lunch. The trucks will be serving from 11am until 9pm that night if you fancy savouring some street kai with the longer daylight saving hours.

All the usual street food suspects will be there; The Rolling Pin, Double Dutch Fries, Bacons Brothers, as well as street side offerings from Britomart restaurants Ebisu, Orleans and Mexico — who will be setting up an alfresco bar so you can enjoy a kerb-side beverage too. Dessert will be covered with the Brulee Bike, Grownup Donuts and Miann Britomart joining the party.

Head on down to Takutai, grab a beanbag or just cop a squat on the grass and enjoy entertainment by Lee Gray Music, while enjoying the best of Auckland street food in the heart of the CBD.
