Overview
Returning to the central city on Tuesday 10 October, Late Night Art is an immersive, after-hours exhibition that allows the public to get creative at drop-in drawing classes, contribute to public art projects, see the very best local art and consume edible artworks.
A partnership between Heart of the City and Gather & Hunt, streetARTdego is a micro-festival within the event where food trucks pair up with local artists for a curated mashup of art and food. Held across Te Hā o Hine (formerly Khartoum Place), this year's offering will see five street food chefs and five contemporary artists unite to create a unique menu and art experience.
Writer and musician Courtney Sina Meredith will combine forces with dessert pie and doughnut makers The Pie Piper to explore feminism, family values and politics through spoken work and edible treats; modern Chinese eatery Judge Bao will create a collision of flavours to the soundtrack of traditional Japanese taiko drummers; Auckland musician A.C Freazy will perform a new composition while organic ice creamery Lalele responds with a custom sorbet; Wise Boys Burgers will craft a plant-based burger to match an interactive exhibit from digital artist collective Hubbub; and light artist Kristina Ercolano will transform trees into a shimmering urban glow worm cave as Puha & Pakeha serve modern Māori cuisine to compliment the installation.
Entry is free and all dishes will be available for purchase.
