Overview

Dominic Hoey aka Tourettes serves up spoken word like you've never heard it before; he's not showing up to impress but if you're impressed that's great, and so you should be.

For one night only Tourettes brings you Surrounded By Ghosts, a collaboration with the very talented artist, Margarita Vovna whose murals lend life to tired walls. Known for her Latin influenced paintings that grace the walls of Mexico and new neighbourhood sun trap Pocket Bar and Kitchen, Vovna's work in the show finds inspiration from one of Tourette's poems.

Unlike some who grace the stage with god-like presence, Tourettes is less a preacher and more of a dissident. Not only are his words genuine, but he takes inspiration from everyday life that we can all relate to.

You may know of Tourettes from his viral poem about problems in New Zealand. Word of advice, don't yell things at him like "John Key's son's a DJ", no one likes a haggler from the audience, let the man do his thing, you'll spoil the ending for everyone.

Surrounded by Ghosts is being hosted by Auckland's favourite evening hotspot Golden Dawn so you know it will be a good night with poetry, art, DJs and craft beer on offer.
