Swap It Like It's Hot 3.0
Bring your 'gently used' clothes that you're kind of sick of and swap them for someone else's.
Overview
Swap It Like It's Hot is an initiative to help reduce fashion industry waste. The idea is that you bring your 'gently used' items which are using up real estate in your closet but you're kind of sick of, and taking it along to the pop-up swap market at the Auckland Central Library Makerspace between 11am and 3pm on Saturday, August 31 in order to swap those clothes for someone else's. Swappers are encouraged to drop off items on Sunday, August 25 or Tuesday, August 27 before swap day.
The beautiful thing is that the sustainable event is absolutely free, meaning that everyone can get a new look, and no one spends a cent. Swap It Like It's Hot welcomes all sizes, body shapes and genders and any leftover clothes from the day will simply be donated to Mercy Hospice, who provide specialty palliative care to the people of Tāmaki Makaurau.
The Library is hosting several other events as part of NZ Fashion Week, including speed dating with fashion industry experts and sewing, stitching and repurposing workshops.
