Overview

Tapas and Voices in the Dark is exactly as the name suggests — a journey of the senses sampling surprise canapés and song in complete darkness.

The global phenomenon of dining in the dark was originally created in Switzerland by a blind clergyman. The absence of sight awakens senses and enables participants to completely reevaluate their perception of taste, smell, or in this case, audition.

French organisation Dans le Noir (In the Dark) has been hosting eyeless events at Rydges Auckland since March, including full-course sensory feasts and wine tasting. This one-off event from the company will see participants guided by blind hosts into a pitch black room, where they will be treated to mystery snacks before an immersive auditive experience kicks off with six actors performing a cappella theatre.
