Overview
When directly translated, te korakora means 'light' or 'spark', and lighting up is most certainly the plan when Te Korakora on Federal returns for its third year on Federal Street. The inner city precinct will be transformed into a vibrant celebration of Māori culture as Matariki — also known as Māori New Year — draws to a close on July 22.
Immerse yourself in the culture with Māori-inspired street food, art, music and dancing, all under the watchful twinkling eyes of Matariki with friends and whānau. This is just a small part of what proves to be a huge program for Auckland Council's 2018 Matariki Festival in Auckland and if you have missed out on other events on the calendar, this is a great excuse to get off the couch, wrap up warm and celebrate the final weekend of the festival.
This is an all ages event with celebrations starting at 5pm and the opportunity to dance the night away with entertainment from the likes of Annie Crummer, Che Fu, Ria Hall, Tawaroa Kawana, Waxed Crew Collective and more.
