Overview

Auckland Pride and its titular events like the Pride Parade and Big Gay Out may sadly be cancelled at the country's current red status in the COVID-19 protection framework,  but you can still support our queer community through the festival's smaller events and digital offerings.

One of those is brand new public arts and cultural festival Te Tīmatanga, presented by Auckland Pride, which will be celebrating the work and achievements of Aotearoa's takatāpui (queer) community through a series of public art installations.

If you're avoiding crowded, indoor spaces during this time at red light, don't worry. Feature works from some of the country's queer artists have been installed throughout Tāmaki Makaurau's central city, with installations in Aotea Square, Albert Park, Britomart, Commercial Bay, Viaduct Harbour and Silo Park (a map of exact locations is yet to be released).

Each of the works stand connected to show the public the importance, reverence and beauty of Takatāpuitanga. A more traditional gallery offering will also be available online in a digital tour.

Running from Tuesday, February 1 until Sunday, February 27, it's the perfect time to show your support for Auckland Pride and our queer community while staying safe in the country's curent COVID-19 protection framework.
