Overview
Te Wao Nui, will be open to the public at noon on Sunday 11 September.
Encompassing a fifth of the Zoo's 17ha footprint, Te Wao Nui will offer both locals and tourists a truly unique and immersive experience of New Zealand's animals, plants and culture - all in one location at Auckland Zoo.
Home to over 100 New Zealand native plant species and around 60 different animal species, visitors will journey through six habitats: The Coast, The Islands, The Wetlands, The Night, The Forest and The High Country.
This celebration of New Zealand explores the past, showcases the present, and focuses on the future - and invites everyone to play a role as kaitiaki (guardians) for our unique wildlife and wild places
