Terror-Fi Film Festival 2019
Celebrating the best horror, thriller and sci-fi films from around the world.
Overview
The capital's goriest film festival is coming to Auckland this November celebrating the best horror, thriller, crime, action and sci-fi films from around the world. Prompting blood curdling screams from 7–10 November at Hollywood Avondale, the Terror-Fi Film Festival includes six New Zealand premieres, one advance screening and two retro classics.
Headline films include the deranged 'hide and seek' black comedy Ready or Not and the Nicolas Cage-starring Color Out Of Space, based on the short story by H. P. Lovecraft and which arrives hot off its world premiere at TIFF in Toronto.
Also on this year's lineup are quirky Irish horror comedy Extra Ordinary, indie sci-fi Freaks, the mind-bending thriller Daniel Isn't Real, surreal comedy Greener Grass, Polish hit The Mute, and a special secret screening.
Completing the bill is an advanced screening of the new breakout horror hit The Lodge, a reprise screening of the hilarious South Korean crime comedy Extreme Job, and retro screenings including Tim Burton's celebrated classic The Nightmare Before Christmas and Luc Besson's Leon, starring Jean Reno, Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman.
The festival will again promote New Zealand talent through its short film program, by playing locally made shorts before every feature film screening. There will also be custom food and drink menus, virtual reality experiences and more.
Auckland tickets go on sale 14 October.
