Overview
After 22 years fronting one of New Zealand's favourite rock and roll bands, Shihad, Jon Toogood has built up quite the rapport within the local music industry. Last year, Toogood fathered a project that saw him setting out to create an entire album based on his wishlist of musical collaborations. The Adults was the result of this little side hobby and it's safe to say thus far, he's nailing it. The Adults is a celebration of his work with some of New Zealand's brightest talents and is an iconic Kiwi album in-the-making.
Members of the group have consisted of Jon Toogood, Tiki Taane, Shayne Carter, Anika Moa, Ladi6, Julia Deans, Gary Sullivan, Nick Roughan, Ruban & Kody Nielson, Warren Maxwell, Ricki Gooch, Redford Grenell and Steve Bremner. With a talent set as diverse as that it's not hard to see how The Adults are able to fuse their different disciplines and skills to create musical explosions. Their songs are described as moody and soulful, incorporating flavours of R&B, rock, and electronica. And if you've ever heard Nothing to Lose you'll get it when I say they've got a knack for creating tunes that have that serious toe tap quality to them.
The Adults will be playing at The Whiskey this Tuesday alongside GF and The Trains. Definitely one way to brighten up one of the more lackluster days of the week, that's for sure.
