Overview

Not ones to shy away from testing relationships with food or throwing a carrot-shaped spanner into the works, Orphans Kitchen is on a mission to show the genre of breakfast from an entirely new angle. The appropriately-titled Breakfast Series has seen the Ponsonby bistro work in cahoots with a number of lauded Auckland eateries to produce a left-of-centre two-course breakfast with paired juice and coffee. Past collabs have included game restaurant Cazador and Kumeu's The Tasting Shed.

Joining Orphans Kitchen for the third outing of the series will be Ponsonby Northern Thai restaurant Saan — who conveniently just launched their very own brunch menu. Orphans' long-standing Sous Chef Tan Nyugen will bring his knowledge of Vietnamese flavours, while Saan's Chef Lek Trirattanavatin comes armed with extensive experience in the realm of Lanna and Isaan cuisine.

The Breakfast Series will take place on Friday, August 11 between 7.30-10.30am. 10% of the proceeds will be donated to Lifewise.
