Overview

Julien Dyne (drummer for Open Souls and Red Bull Academy attendee in 2004) and crew have fresh new sounds, fresh new members and have named the band The Circling Sun.

The Circling Sun is a live funk, soul, jazz and latino jam session featuring some of New Zealand's most talented and exciting musicians including Julien Dyne (drums), Daniel Ryland (guitar), Ben Turua (bass), Cam Allen (tenor sax) and Isaac Aesili (percussion, trumpet) plus special guest Tyra Hammond.

The night is profiled as part of the Creative Jazz Club initiative, whose aims are to create an environment where musicians can perform and grow their creative projects through weekly performances. Their vision is to support the growth and development of our improvising musicians, and create an environment where composers and musicians can test and grow their work; to raise the skill level of Auckland's improvising musicians through inspiration, collaboration and interaction.

Ponsonby Social Club is the perfect venue for a Wednesday night drink with friends, providing a warm and intimate setting. Supported by some of New Zealand's most talented improv artists, it all makes perfect sense.
