Overview

The local comedy scene was hit hard during lockdown, with the 28th edition of the NZ International Comedy Festival canned due to the critical developments of the COVID-19 situation.

Lockdown is over and the laughs are back at Auckland's favourite comedy club, The Classic. From Friday, 22 May and every weekend thereafter, the nation's best stand-up comedians will be returning to the central city venue with a bubble-load of fresh comedy.

The Classic is taking on stringent hygiene protocols, including reduced capacity to meet gathering and physical distancing requirements. Bookings are essential under the new limited capacity, and there will be exclusive tables for bubbles of two, four and six people in cabaret-style seating — the best tables are at the front.

Kicking things off this weekend will be a who's who of local comedy stars, including Justine Smith, Brendon Lovegrove, Melanie Bracewell, Cori Gonzalez-Macuer, and more. For further dates and lineups, visit The Classic website.
