The University of Auckland’s drama club mark their triumphant return with Arthur Miller’s classic play, The Crucible; a portrait of one man’s struggle to find truth in the surrounding chaos.

It seems the small community of Salem, Massachusetts will finally have peace. However, when a group of girls are found dancing in the woods, old feuds and secrets come to light, turning friends into foes, in what is one of the darkest chapters in American history. It comes down to one man, John Proctor, who must not only save his wife from the noose, but also stop the frantic hysteria and web of lies that threaten to consume them all. Director, Luke Thornborough’s true-to-text adaptation successfully showcases the timeless relevance of the power of the community over the individual.
