Overview

Love them or hate them, feijoas are part of our national framework. The egg-shaped, dark green wonders are, once again, about to take centre stage in the local fruit world; foraged kerb-side, sliced around the middle, scooped generously and infused in everything from crumble to vodka.

Instead of reaching over your neighbour's fence for a fix this year, head to Auckland's annual celebration of the humble feijoa. Presented by the Feijoa Movement, The Feijoa Fest aims to bring people together to enjoy the precious fruit. This year's event will take place at Takapuna's Pumphouse Theatre on Saturday, 30 March.

The themed event will celebrate all things feijoa. Lothlorien will have a wide variety of feijoa wine for tasting, food stalls will infuse the tarty flavour of the feijoa across sweet and savoury, a feijoa forest dance floor will set the scene as live entertainment takes the stage. Dressing to the fruity theme is highly encouraged.

The event will support The All Good Club, a not-for-profit organisation which raises awareness for men's mental health. As the feijoa celebration wraps up, the festivities will continue at Macs Brew Bar Takapuna. Entertainment will be provided by professional fire dancers, and there will be plenty of feijoa flavoured beverages.
