Overview

Known for exhibiting some of the most interesting, cutting-edge and legendary bands under the alt banner, The Others Way returns to Karangahape Road on Friday, 11 September.

The streetwide music festival tips its hat to international music mixers CMJ and SXSW, where attendees can map out their own trajectory across a multitude of venues. Stages for this year's event will extend from Whammy Bar to Galatos, The Thirsty Dog, Monster Valley and everywhere in between.

Assembling on those 14 stages will be a bona fide sonic feast from New Zealand, including incredibly rare appearances from local hip hop founders Upper Hutt Posse, Flying Nun veterans The Bats and power pop act Voom. Elsewhere you'll find folk darling Nadia Reid with her full band, progressive indie rock band The Phoenix Foundation performing their album Buffalo in full, rising Auckland rapper JessB, and sludge metal act Beastwars.

This year's curated stages feature Noa Records, a new label focused on spotlighting alternative music from Pasifika and indigenous Māori musicians, and eclectic Auckland label Sunreturn.
