Overview

This Halloween, get ready to do the time warp again with your favourite sweet transvestite. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is running for one night only at the Hollywood Avondale. Not only is it showing in 35mm but the creator and star Richard O'Brien will be there as your compere.

The ultimate kitsch shock musical, The Rocky Horror Picture Show tells the story of a young couple whose car breaks down on a spooky evening in a deserted area. The only residence they come across is the house of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. They walk into a party, but the evening quickly spirals into a night of mayhem, murder and lots of fabulous music. When it was first released in 1975, the film became a sanctuary for people who saw themselves as outsiders, especially queer and gender-nonconforming people. Now it's rightly considered a classic.

Tickets have now sold out but get in touch with the venue as they have a waitlist. All proceeds from tickets sold go to Starship Hospital, Richard's charity of choice. There'll be a Q&A with Richard O'Brien after the filming but rumours are the pre-film entertainment will feature dance company Dynamotion, with Richard himself. Dressing up isn't compulsory but why wouldn't you? This will be an evening you won't forget in a lifetime.
