The Watercooler: Silver Linings

A monthly gathering created purely for the sake of a good story.

Overview

Coffee machines, photocopiers and water coolers. Perhaps these have become meccas for sharing stories because we've been deprived of any other options – until The Watercooler launched in 2013 that is.

The Watercooler is a monthly event at The Basement that exists purely as an evening to celebrate the art of storytelling. Based on similar formats from overseas, these evenings are an example of community in the truest sense of the word. That is, people coming together to share in the experience of being enthralled by tales of fact and fiction.

Each month's theme is different, with November's being Silver Linings and will be hosted by the charmingly opinionated Sarin Moddle. The speakers – graphic designer Lindsay Yee, paramedic Ronan Lahav and comedian Mary-Margaret Slack – will spin their yarns about difficult situations that have had unexpectedly positive outcomes to an expectant audience on Thursday 10 November.

Past events can be streamed from The Watercooler's website or downloaded from iTunes for your aural enjoyment.
