Overview

A striking new photo exhibition in Ponsonby is showcasing some of the incredible stories out of New Zealand's East Coast, following the cyclone and subsequent floods that wreaked havoc through the region in March.

Entitled The World's Toughest, the exhibition from award-winning New Zealand director photographer Tom Gould captures a series of striking portraits and films from the Tairāwhiti / Gisborne region.

"I wanted to portray this resilience in a way that shows beauty in the stillness and repetitive nature of everyday life," Gould said in a statement.

Available to view for a limited time at Knowear, the exhibition coincides with the launch of a range of activewear from sports clothing range Canterbury of New Zealand, also available at the store.

The images and accompanying stories can also be viewed online and the Tom Gould exhibit for Canterbury of New Zealand will be on show from July 28 – August 10.
