Overview

Do you like top quality acting? (Nearly award-winning acting, in fact.) Do you like soulful dancing? Do you like feeling happy? Of course you do. Lucky for you then, This is My Real Job is coming to Auckland, and promises audiences all of that and more.

Nominated for Most Original Show and Most Outstanding Performance at The Dunedin Fringe Festival 2014, This is My Real Job is the “unassuming, enigmatic and deftly crafted show about childhood dreams, dance, art, parenthood, family, space, time and the elusive present moment”, according to fellow reviewer Reuben Hilder.

Lara Fischel-Chisholm wrote and stars in the show which she says is the “nearly award winning show that I made with my friend Nisha and performed at my mum and dad’s house in Dunedin”. It is sometimes autobiographical, sometimes fantastical, and has been dubbed “intimate, self-expressive theatre at its playful and relatable best”.

So, in the words of Lara herself, “I’m making myself at home in the Basement Studio - it’s fire-proof now so that’s a plus. I think it will be quite cozy! […] Come and see me before I get famous… and help make some dreams come true”.

A flamboyant, quirky display of fun, not to be missed.
