Overview

Near, far, wherever you are — it's hard to believe that this year marks the 20th anniversary of James Cameron's Titanic. The romance-disaster based around the world's most famous and devastating shipwreck was the most expensive film made at the time of release, and subsequently the highest grossing — until Avatar came along.

As part of a world tour, the blockbuster will resurface at The Civic Theatre next January. Titanic Live brings the film's award-winning score to the forefront of the cinema experience, performed live by a full-size orchestra. For the Auckland leg, the original musical score will be performed live by the 72-piece Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and the North Shore Children's Choir.

Joining the local orchestra and choir for the production will be British conductor Neil Thomson, London vocalist Clara Sanabras, and American pipes and whistles soloist Eric Rigler who laid down the iconic pipes in the film. Don't try and hold back the tears as 'My Heart Will Go On' soars through The Civic.
