Overview
Having last played in New Zealand two years ago at one of the final Big Day Outs, Los Angeles rockers, Tool, return to Auckland's Vector Arena. This will be their first stand-alone New Zealand shore here in more than a decade, where they last shook the North Shore Events Centre.
Tool's 2001 concert was part of a tour promoting their Lateralus record, (which included my personal favourite 'Schism' and saw Keenan clad in leather and joined by contortionists on stage). The show also featured huge video screens displaying the bands unique visuals - many of them created by guitarist Adam Jones. Before Tool, Jones worked in special effects with film credits including Jurassic Park and Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
Since performing at the North Shore Events Centre, Tool released 10,000 Days in 2006 and are currently working on their next album. All four band members have also been working with various other bands and side projects.
A second show has just been announced providing an even greater opportunity to be a part of a truly special aural experience. With their gigantic onstage presence, make sure you are there to witness Tool's performance on their (deserved) very own stage, a testament to their mega status and mega riffs.
