Overview

Tūrama, which means 'to give light to, to illuminate' in te reo Māori, is a magical festival of light. This July, Auckland's inner city will be transformed into an immersive art experience, as the trail takes over Albert Park to celebrate Matariki.

Featuring artworks that range from performance to sculpture and illumination to installation, the Tūrama Festival will inspire and delight people of all ages. Alongside the assortment of sensory experiences will be a variety of delicious and healthy kai. If that wasn't enough, there will also be a fantastic lineup of homegrown musical talent.

The festival organisers are committed to minimising waste and refuse; therefore they're encouraging festival goers to bring their own keep cup, water bottle and even plates to eat from so they can help reduce single use products. So this winter, do your bit to save the planet and enjoy a light filled wonderland whilst you're doing it.

Tūrama Festival is a free event in Albert Park and runs from the 26–28 July 2019.
