Overview
Picture this; you've just graduated from high school, you're 18-years old and you're invited by a living legend to play drums on his latest project and then tour with him on the other side of the world. If you are Spencer Tweedy, life would seem pretty sweet right now.
Hailed as one of the great singer-songwriters of our time, it is clear Wilco founding member Jeff Tweedy made the best decision when he decided to take his son on his next musical journey, and the pair are heading to our shores for a very special gig at the Powerstation.
If you're thinking Spencer had it easy, having a legendary dad doesn't automatically give you an 'in'; Spencer says it's always been a dream of his to drum alongside his dad but didn't actually believe it was happening until he sat down to record. How could he not? Spencer's been drumming in his own band The Blisters since the age of seven and Jeff describes his son as a "drumming savant".
It's clear Jeff is on to a good thing (when is he not), Rolling Stone named Tweedy's album Sukierae in its top 50 albums of 2014.
Listening to bit of alternative rock dished out by a legendary performer and his son sounds like a great way to spend a lazy Sunday and if you're a fan of Wilco, you may just be in for a bit of a treat.
