Overview

Your burning desire to strut through the inner city adorning swimwear may have finally been realised. 100 tonnes of sand will be dumped at Queens Wharf this December for an event that aims to bring the appeal of the beach to the CBD, sans ocean.

Urban Beach is open to the public from December 17 - 23. There will be umbrellas to provide essential sun protection, a generous spread of bean bags for comfort, food trucks for nourishment and activities like sand volleyball.

Further entertainment across the week will be provided by electro-pop duo Jupiter Project (December 18/23), hip hop singer Che Fu (December 20), and popstar-turned-diamond hawker Dane Rumble in a rare performance (December 22).

Entry is free.
