They've shared stages with the upper crust of the indie, Americana and folk genres, and their bespectacled frontman could quite possibly be the lovechild of Nick Cave and Johnny Cash.

It's less 12-months since Aussie band Wagons last set foot on our shores, and they've already announced their return. The recent release of their sixth album Acid Rain & Sugar Cane will see the six-piece perform two shows in August, with support from Swampland and Will Wood.

The band's latest release, apparently filled with drinking songs and driving songs, was recorded at frontman Henry Wagons’ Goldview Studio with Mick Harvey (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey) behind the mixing desk. Rolling Stone gave it a four star rating and described certain songs as "coy bachelor pad croons, bogan boogie anthems and necking bad acid before heading out on the piss".
