Waitangi Day is fast approaching in New Zealand, with Kiwis nationwide set to mark the day that the country's founding document Te Tiriti o Waitangi, The Treaty of Waitangi, was signed. The public holiday is considered to be Aotearoa's national day, so what better way to celebrate our culture than free live music and delicious kai?

On Tuesday, February 6, the Manukau Sports Bowl is hosting Waitangi ki Manukau, a day of free live music and cultural performances that's kicking off with a pōwhiri — a Māori welcoming ceremony — from 8am.

There will be a range of different activities throughout the venue, from poi-making and flax-weaving workshops to learning more about Waitangi Day itself, plus why the Treaty continues to be a significant document 184 years after it was first signed.

Some of Aotearoa's best musicians are taking part in the free concert, with performances from Che Fu, Annie Crummer, Tipene and Rei. But that's not all, with Savage also making an appearance, and sure to make the crowd go wild with one of his global hits 'Swing' or 'Freaks'.

Exact set times of performances are yet to be announced, but are expected to be posted on Waitangi ki Manukau's Facebook page ahead of Waitangi Day.
