Overview

The Watties Can Film Festival promises to end its teenage years with a bang! Going for 19 years, this fantastic festival asks that you bring a can of food to your local participating theatre, and swap it for a movie ticket. Watties then matches the number of cans donated with one of their own cans and all cans go to The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.

Last year 45,380 cans were donated, which meant that the festival broke through the one-million mark for the total cans collected since the festival began. This year, the festival hopes to do even better. Perhaps we can all help it crack the 50,000 can mark?

With over 60,000 food parcels being delivered in the last year to Kiwi families in need, this great festival provides us all a chance to help out contribute to those in need in an easy and fun way.

Movies on show this year include The Avengers, Brave, Hotel Transylvania, Ice Age: Continental Drift, The Amazing Spider-man, The Lorax, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.
