Overview

A Maori, a Syrian, a Kenyan and an Egyptian. Sounds like the start to one of those painfully un-funny "walked into a bar" jokes. But unlike those quips, these four young performance poets promise to deliver in Waxed Poetic Revival. Having performed individually and collectively throughout Auckland and the rest of New Zealand, the Auckland University Poetry Society student have impressed critics all over the country.

Brain Gashema, Husam Al-Deen, Rewa Worley and Mohamed Hassan each relay their own history through poetic performance, aided by special guest, singer-songwriter Yasamin, who will enhance the pieces with music.
