Overview

Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki will present the popular photographic exhibition, Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 - Present from Wednesday, November 10 2012.

The exhibition will show 173 works from over 100 artists including world renowned photographers Diane Arbus, Roberta Bayley, Henry Diltz, Godlis, Dennis Hopper, David LaChappelle, Annie Leibovitz, Linda McCartney and Albert Watson. Many of the photographs are very rare and have never before been exhibited.

Who Shot Rock & Roll is unique in that it is the first museum exhibition to acknowledge photographers for their collaborative and creative role in the history of popular music. The Auckland exhibition will be the first time Who Shot Rock & Roll will have travelled outside of the United States, and will provide a wonderful opportunity for New Zealanders to experience the influencial work of many talented international photographers up close.
