Overview

Ex Wellingtonian, Willy Moon, now based in London has a special treat for Aucklanders this week, playing a DJ set at 1885 this Thursday.

Moon, now 23, moved to London when he was 18 and has (very) successfully been plying his trade ever since. Having signed a record deal with Island Records, home to legends Bob Marley and U2, Moon insists on being involved in the production of his songs from start to finish. Willy Moon, real name, William George Sinclair, employs his wide array of talents, evident on his debut EP 'Here's Willy Moon', released just last month. The singer-songwriter-guitarist-producer also engages his photographer girlfriend, Sasha Rainbow for directive duties in some of his videos.

The Kiwi-born entertainer has had one of his tracks, 'Yeah Yeah', picked up by Apple for one of their advertising campaigns, which is featured on his EP alongside another track 'I Wanna Be Your Man'. One of his earlier releases, 'Railroad Track' features a familiar sample, also used by Kanye West (Jesus Walks). Another featuring a sample, similarly used by West, is 'Get Up', which was released on The White Stripes' Jack White's record label, Third Man Records.

This should be an exciting set by one of the country's liveliest and newest entertainers, set to exhibit why Moon is featured in Concrete Playground's Ten Up and Coming Musicians. You'll also be able to pick up his debut EP for a mere $10 on the night. Support includes Boycrush (Live), DPTRCLB DJs, Goldblum and Tom from the office.
