Overview

New Year's Eve festival Wondergarden will return for its third run this December, taking over waterfront community space, Silo Park. The festival is pitched as an alternative option for Aucklanders who don't want to leave the city limits just to ring in the new year.

Featuring an eclectic lineup of local and international acts, 2018's event will be headlined by Leeds native Nightmares on Wax. The influential electro composer will perform a DJ set marrying soul, hip hop and dub.

From Los Angeles comes 'the ambassador of boogie-funk', Dam-Funk, while electronic garage duo Kllo will drop by from Melbourne. Local post-punk five-piece Cut Off Your Hands will assemble for their only show of 2018, before attendees are treated to Auckland rapper JessB and electronic hip hop duo Fortunes. The event will also feature an early afternoon DJ set from Tina Turntables.

As well as a musical component, roaming performers are a large part of the concept and attendees can again expect lighting installations, licensed bars and street food courtesy of the Food Space vendors. It also offer the city's best view of the Sky Tower's midnight fireworks display.
