Overview

It’s been four years since a slice of Auckland’s waterfront was transformed from a petrochemical storage facility into the multi-purpose area we now know as Wynyard Quarter. To mark the milestone, the folks behind the harbour-side landing are throwing a day-long celebration comprising all the things that make the area a regular destination for weekend warriors.

A fusion of yoga and bike riding will open proceedings and limber you up for the day, which comes packed with family friendly activities like sea creature chalk stencilling, karaoke, workshops in circus performance and up-cycling, free ferry cruises, lantern making and a superhero marching band.

Live music will kick into gear from 10am with pop-up performances from local songwriter Anthonie Tonnon, cinematic jazz band Carnivorous Plant Society and ambient experimentalist Sun Blood. Come midday, a selection of street food vendors will park up and hawk their goods, while the Silo bar will wash everything down and help warm up the crowd for some free public karaoke. In true Silo Park style, The LEGO Movie will be screened on one of the towering silos at 3:30pm.
