Overview

If you've been living in a state of depression and mistrust since YG cancelled his NZ tour last September, here is your chance for rehabilitation. The My Krazy Life artist promised a one-off show in 2014 where he was set to bring his critically acclaimed debut studio album to our shores, but bailed to tour North America with the likes of Lil Wayne and Drake. We’re not even mad.

Now he is set to grace the nation on January 28 alongside fellow heavy hitter TY Dolla $ign at Auckland’s Studio. The two go way back, having collaborated on YG’s debut single Toot It and Boot It in 2009 which led to the rapper being signed to Def Jam Recordings.

All signs point to the two artists playing the hits of their best collaborative work, including Paranoid and My N!gga, and we are crossing our fingers for YG to play some of his latest album. Produced with help from his mentor, Jeezy, and producer DJ Mustard, the album was a massive success. You’ll hear a recreation of g-funk loosely ordered in a story of YG’s life timeline. In saying that, this is the least normal autobiography you’ll ever hear. “Meet the Flockers” reenacts YG and his friends robbing a house. In “Do It To Ya” YG cheats on his girlfriend and in “Me and My B*tch” she gets her revenge. Have a listen. You get a decent insight into the rapper’s life, and the R&B tracks soften up his sound for a refreshing change of sound.

Here’s hoping he makes it this time round.
