Auckland Zinefest

A celebration of all things DIY.

Overview

Zine, pronounced 'zeen' (you know, like the end of the word magazine). There you go, now you'll be up with the play when you head along to this year's Auckland Zinefest.

In not so many words a zine is a small circulation self-published DIY magazine that usually features original work, writing and artwork or appropriated content. Tools of the trade generally include photocopiers and staplers, although not all zines are DIY in appearance.

At the Auckland Zinefest there's literally something for everyone and worth getting out of the house to check out. In fact, even if you're currently binge-watching Game of Thrones, trying to catch up to all your mates that can't stop talking about season six, you'll want to get out of the house for this. There's also such a thing as a 'fanzine' so the withdrawal symptoms I'm sure won't last for long.

The Auckland Zinefest is a celebration of all things DIY, whether that be zines, small press, art or prints, this is where Auckland's creative community gives you the gift that is their work.

Over 60 zine makers and artists will have their work available for purchase and as you'd expect from an event that celebrates DIY culture, and they'll be sitting right there if you're keen to chat.
