With the first residents moving into East Brunswick Village in 2020, a groundswell of like-minded businesses quickly replaced the neighbourhood's dilapidated factories. From the uncompromising baked goods at To Be Frank's second outpost to Fomo Cinemas, featuring a dine-in experience inspired by cult cinemas such as America's Alamo Drafthouse, the community embraced a new tradition this year: hosting vintage markets. The creative bunch are now gearing up for their second vintage market on Sunday, July 26, following a successful first edition in February. Over 40 stallholders are bringing their spin on vintage and second-hand fashion – fur coats will be on the racks – plus retro homeware, vinyl records, collectibles and other one-of-a-kind finds. Beyond shopping, another EBV resident is also firing up the barbecue. That'd be long-standing family-run butchery Hagen's Organics flipping hot dogs with chicken, truffle and parmesan sausages, Dijon-infused butter, truffle aioli and crispy chicken skin. Fresh truffle shavings are available for an extra $10. And DODAM is bringing along dessert in the form of Korean-style waffles filled with whipped cream and apple jam. Market day will be soundtracked by Skylab Radio's DJ Folarin Joseph spinning vinyl from his extensive personal collection. As you find yourself dancing from one stall to the next, look out for Yuji Ohnishi's camera. Known for his vintage 4x5 film shots, the street photographer will be capturing instant portraits throughout the day. Dogs are welcome, and the market is wheelchair accessible too.
