Francesca Mazza and Aaron Carson of Winona Forever, Hello Friends + Allies and Major Tom are at it again. Doing what they do best, they've opened the doors to a relaxed new cafe with delicious and beautifully crafted meals and saliva-inducing cabinet treats.

Their newest space, Friday I'm In Love, has found a home in the most unlikely of places: on the ground floor of the Lion/GHD building in Freemans Bay. The unusual location is by design as the cafe creators with the Midas touch have a house on Napier Street so were familiar with the location. It also fit the brief they wanted their next location — a secret hideaway where customers can come enjoy the vibe of the haven they've created.

In saying that, Friday I'm In Love has been bustling since it's opening on Monday with people enjoying coffee from Supreme, the minimalist space that includes a Beatles poster from the '60s, and the delectable baked goods that have made Winona Forever, Hello Friends and Major Tom go-to destinations in Auckland. You can expect those irresistible cream and jam doughnuts and breakfast pizza.

Aaron and Francesca continue to take inspiration from popular culture, with this cafe named after the iconic 1990s hit from one of their favourite bands, The Cure. Aaron believes that the name has even more significance given that the cafe is based in a building full of professionals for whom Friday is the holy grail of workdays.

Currently Friday I'm In Love is only open weekdays 7.30am to 3.30pm, with the kitchen closing at 2pm daily, but the plan is to open weekends in the very near future.
