Get stacked while getting shellacked.

Getting stacked at the gym and getting shellacked at the bar generally don't go hand in hand. Auckland personal trainer and fitness food advocate Dene Flude is set to prove that theory wrong with his newly launched range of ready-to-drink fitness vodka.

No stranger to the healthy junk food arena, Flude is just one of the names behind IsoCream — a sugar-free ice cream alternative starring whey protein to repair and enhance damaged and ageing muscles. The Pure Amino range was started to give back to those who lead an active lifestyle but also enjoy a social life.

"I knew alcohol consumption was impossible to fix but I could at least create a healthier way of doing it. Being a personal trainer for the last 9 years and surrounded by health and fitness, I wanted to create this drink for myself and others who care about their health and wellbeing."

The drinks are predominantly made up of water, so in theory, should keep you hydrated while drinking and let you enjoy the morning after without a hangover. They use whey-based vodka, are carbohydrate-free, sugar-free and come with the addition of four amino acids. Each RTD is 5% ABV.

The active ingredients include: L-leucine, which is known for preserving lean muscle; L-glutamine which can create protein; L-carnitine which is often taken as a weight loss supplement; and taurine which can help stimulate the muscles for better performance. Despite including all of the above, the drinks don't offer any health benefits and are not designed to replace your beverage of choice (preferably water) when going full beast at the gym.

The RTD range is currently limited to raspberry and lemon, though Flude intends to introduce more flavours like coconut and strawberry and kiwi soon. The company also sells regular water and supplement powder.
