Not strictly a destination for heavenly buns, much-loved burger joint Burger Burger will play cupid this Valentine's Day with its annual Blind Dates event.

Over the past three years the burgerie has held the matchmaking event as an antagonist to online swiping. The Valentine's Day celebration invites singles to put their hearts on the line to see if they can meet their next hunk of burning love (or date for the night, at least). Last year it attracted 1,053 singles for the speed dating element with free food and ample opportunities to mingle.

Hopefuls this year will be able to enter themselves or a single friend into the dating pool via the Burger Burger website. From there, the expert matchmakers will choose between 200-300 lucky lovers to attend the Blind Dates party to partake in hosted speed dating, followed by mingling, awkward chats, drinks and nibbles, and hopefully a few sneaky pashes.

The event will be held at an undisclosed location on Wednesday 14 February. The $25 ticket price will include the goods from Burger Burger, Serious Popcorn, Moustache Cookies and Duck Island Ice Cream, with Dutch courage supplied by Garage Project, Rogue Society Gin, Almighty Juice, Supreme Coffee and Antipodes Water. Entries are open Monday 22 January to Thursday 1 February.
