Looking for something to whet your palate beyond supermarket cleanskins? Wellington-based retailer Cult Wine has opened an Auckland satellite store to spread the word of natural and lo-fi vino.

Created by Jules van Costello and Asher Boote, Cult Wine celebrates innovation, diversity and authenticity in wine by supporting artisan winegrowers. That typically means wines created in small volumes, produced without chemicals and with minimal intervention. And so you know what you're in for, the company's wines are categorised with charming descriptors like 'Smashable' for easy-drinking drops; 'MindFuck Alert' for varieties that really break the boundaries of what wine should be; and 'Future Classic' for fine specimens that may end up being legendary.

Found inside Eden Terrace's specialist off-licence beer store Fridge and FlagonCult Corner offers a range of more than 50 natural and lo-fi wines from New Zealand and around the world. To keep things accessible the selection is priced between $25 and $45. Cult Corner keeps customers up to date with new releases as they become available via its Instagram account.

Find Cult Corner inside Fridge and Flagon at 2 Shaddock Street, Eden Terrace. It's open Monday to Thursday, 12–5pm and Friday and Saturday, 12–7pm.
