DoorDash Is Teaming Up with Local Restaurants to Deliver Top-Secret Eats Across New Zealand

You may have heard of Starbucks' secret menu items, but what about the clandestine eats that you can get delivered straight to your door? Food delivery service DoorDash is helping takeaway lovers spice things up by releasing a bunch of secret menu items from New Zealanders' favourite eateries — but only for a very limited time.

The app, which first touched down in Aotearoa in May 2022, has combined forces with restaurants across NZ to create top-secret takeaway options until Sunday, September 24.  Eateries such as Malaysian spot Uncle Mans are getting creative and branching out from their usual offering in the process.

"[We] are excited to unveil our new dish nasi tomato, which is commonly served at special occasions like weddings in Malaysia, but hard to come by in most restaurants," said owner Nadia Najib. "We're eager for Kiwis to give it a try."

Other sneaky menu additions include burger dumplings, a Canadian-inspired pizza topped with bacon and maple syrup from Pizza Club, a spicy paneer burger from Broadway Diner and Korean loaded fries from Kai Eatery.

If you're not keen to branch out from your regular, a few places are offering special meal deals — such as Chicking's crispy chicken trio, which comes with six pieces of chicken, fries, mash and gravy, plus a 1.5-litre drink to wash it all down.

DoorDash's New Zealand general manager, Rebecca Burrows, said she was "thrilled" to partner with local eateries and help them create secret menu items.

"We have a delicious selection of new items inspired by cuisines from all over the world, so there is something to tempt every palette," Burrows said.

"I encourage foodies to get in quick to try all the incredible dishes, as these menu items are only running for a limited time."
