Popular Neighbourhood Eatery Andiamo Has Returned to Herne Bay

Italian neighbourhood eatery Andiamo has reopened its doors in Herne Bay after industry giant Nourish Group took over the reigns from its old owners. Before closing, Andiamo had a strong reputation for making comforting Italian cuisine which saw it welcome customers through its doors open for over 30 years.

The Nourish Group takeover of the Jervois Road restaurant has included giving the interior space a massive facelift, thanks to Halcyon, as well as a newly redesigned menu. "Our Italian menu gives a nod to the restaurant's heritage, while the décor speaks to Italian simplicity and style, with a tasteful colour palette and a rustic, organic feel," said Nourish Group Founder Richard Sigley.

The new menu is a celebration of typical Italian fare (including cheese, housemade pasta, fish and red meat) and the typical Italian dining style. "We wanted dishes that stay true to the Italian way of enjoying and sharing food — simple, delicious and relaxed — to be the stars of this menu," says Nourish Group Executive Chef Gareth Stewart. "There is a blend of modern and traditional dishes, from crudo (raw market fish, dressed in sorrel, lemon oil and chili); to an upscale macaroni cheese, prepared with Lady Butcher's bacon and chili; to squid ink linguine with Spirits Bay scallops and 'Nduja." The only thing Nourish Group haven't changed or updated is Andiamo's name, which is Italian for 'let's go'.

The newly relaunched Andiamo joins good company. Nourish Group is known for its high calibre restaurants, with its successful restaurant ventures including the very iconic Euro, Soul, The Culpepper, The Crab Shack and Jervois Steak House in Auckland, Bistro Lago at The Hilton in Taupo, Shed 5 and The Crab Shack in Wellington, and Queenstown's Jervois Steak House.

The new Andiamo is open Tuesday to Friday, 12pm till late, and Saturday to Sunday, 9am till late.
