Overview

A few weeks ago we reported on a refugee camp which got its own pizza delivery service.  And now we have some more good news on the pizza delivery front: pizzas in the US Virgin Islands are now being delivered by boat. By boat.

Located in St. Thomas’ Christmas Cove, Pizza Pi (cute math pun), has dubbed itself a commercial-grade "food truck boat" and is making pizzas and New York pies fresh to order - you just need to radio, call or email them to make the order. Then, when the pizza's ready you simply swim or row out to the pick-up window and get your pizza - or they can stop by your vessel to drop of the goods.

Before becoming a slice of paradise in, well, paradise, the boat was an abandoned wreck for about ten years and was infested with termites. It's now a fully-licensed, clean and commercial-grade floating pizzeria and sailboat.

Pizzas served are high grade gourmet - including the Carbonara - which is layered with chopped artichoke, mozzarella and topped with bacon, peas, and white sauce; and the Blumin Onion - which is made with lemon aioli instead of tomato sauce and piled with leeks, radicchio, blue cheese, and honey. YUM.

There is currently only one other floating food service boat in the Caribbean, but that one only sell warm beer by the case, pre-packaged muffins, and ice. Pizza Pi is the only floating pizzeria in the world.
