Overview

Known for popping up in unconventional locations, travelling food vendors Judge Bao will surface in the faraway land of retail for their next venture.

To mark the arrival of Chinese New Year and the Year of the Monkey, the contemporary Chinese bun-making duo will set up inside four Noel Leeming stores across the city for free in-store cooking demonstrations.

Forget your collection of dust-ridden recipe books, the interactive workshops will see chef Jamie Johnston (Sauce Boss) and Debbie Orr (Bun Hun) give hands-on demonstrations on how to prepare their hand-rolled, steamed buns and other Asian street cuisine. To deter painful recreations at home, the methods will be shown on everyday household cooking appliances.

In addition to the masterclass (and more importantly), two variations of Judge Bao’s buns will be available for free tastings. Up for grabs at the four locations will be Judge Bao's 'Peggy Siu', comprising char siu pork with hoisin, floss and coriander, and the 'Master Fu', a combination of five spice braised tofu with hoisin, peanut and coriander.

The in-store cooking demonstrations will be held at,

Noel Leeming Wairau Park: 11am – 1pm and Noel Leeming Lynn Mall: 2 - 4pm on Saturday, February 13.

Noel Leeming Sylvia Park: 11am – 1pm and Noel Leeming Manukau: 2 - 4pm on Sunday, February 14.
