Initiators of the free-range rotisserie movement and advocates of healthy fast food, Bird On A Wire, are set to dive into the breakfast arena with an early morning menu out of their Takapuna branch. Instead of following their usual path with the barnyard favourite, the restaurant is putting their focus into a selection of breakfast favourites and brand new creations. Though chicken still manages to make an appearance.

Sweet options on the menu include banana on toasted banana bread with whipped ricotta and candied walnuts, and 'Birdseed Muesli' and 'Grain-free Granola', both served with fruit and yoghurt. Among the heartier options is the 'Chick n’ Egg n’ Cheese', a version of breakfast sandwich with a chicken sausage patty, fried egg, cheese, mustard mayo and ketchup in an English muffin. The Bird Bowl is an interpretation of a Middle Eastern breakfast salad, with dukkah-crusted eggs, kumara hummus, avocado, feta, baby spinach and toast - you’d also be happy to know that bacon can be added for an extra $5.

Bird On A Wire will begin serving the new breakfast menu from next week. It will be available from the Takapuna location (40 Hurstmere Road) between 7.30am – 11am, 7 days a week.
