K' Road's The Burger Bar is Introducing a Mystery Slider Menu

You'll never get the same thing twice.

In a saturated burger market, K Road's The Burger Bar punches high with one of the freshest burger experiences in town. Three staff manoeuvre around the eatery's poky kitchen in St Kevin's Arcade to make everything from scratch — from the patties to the aioli and the knife-cut chips — there's not a freezer in sight and ingredients taste and appear like they've just been pulled straight from the farm.

The appropriately-named burgerie was started in July 2016 by Ireland-born owner-operator Stephen Lynch who traded in construction for life in the kitchen. As well as using foundation burger ingredients he's keen to introduce local burger lovers to lesser-used and unconventional produce. His latest is concept is part of a full menu overhaul.

From June 1, diners will be able to leave their burger destiny in the hands of Stephen and company by ordering a range of mystery sliders. The kitchen will offer either three or five sliders a $17 or $25 respectively. Stephen says he is introducing the concept to showcase the best seasonal produce along with the team's knack for invention in the kitchen. "Customers can expect anything from classic combinations to really experimental concepts, from delicate flavours to big, bold and spicy. We intend to stock enough preserves, spice blends, chutneys and salsas that any repetition is minimised so as far as I can control, customers will never get the same slider twice."

As well as the lucky dip sliders, three new regular size burgers will be added to the menu, including Moroccan lamb with spiced carrots and rocket, Mediterranean vegetable, and Asian-style pork belly. Paying homage to Stephen's Irish heritage he will also expand the bar snack menu to include four kinds of potatoes: Asian-style potato skins, potato salad, curry chips and poutine. Barbecue-rubbed chicken wings with dipping citrus aioli and hot sauce round off the new additions.

The Burger Bar's new menu will come into effect from June 1, 2017. Find them at 18/183 Karangahape Rd.
